The Zimin Foundation supported work to digitize the archival collections belonging to Memorial, a Russian human rights organization. On 28 February 2022 the Appeal Board of Russia’s Supreme Court reviewed Memorial’s appeal against a decision of the Supreme Court of 28 December 2021 to liquidate the organization following a suit filed by the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office. The appeal was dismissed and the decision was left unchanged. Memorial was awarded the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize together with Ales Bialiatski, a human rights advocate from Belarus, and the Ukrainian human rights organization Center for Civil Liberties.
